Rose, no irritation. I know you've got a good heart, and that yours, and my, interest align. Both FairTax, and MI FairTax, DO address - in part - the "real problems" (gov't spending). I would revise your statement that these tax proposals shift "from one abusive tax system to another [which is fair, transparent, and unable to be "gamed" by the rich, and corporations, both of whom can afford lobbyists to favor their interests, at cost to the rest of us].

The FairTax does NOT tax business, because doing so ends up as "hidden costs" to consumers in higher prices. The idea that "lost revenue needs to be made up by us" is misleading. WE'RE PAYING THESE COSTS, NOW.

Businesses will FLOOD into the U.S. (and MI, under the MI FairTax). People WILL have jobs, because demand for labor will result.

The last time I bought butter, I paid $2.99 at Kroger (so, better stay away from the Party Store).

Yes, the MI FairTax - as a REPLACEMENT tax for the income tax, and hidden taxes we pay in prices on account of the business income and payroll tax - will have the lowest rate if we do not start "cutting up" the tax base with exceptions. The prebate will act to UNtax basic food necessities, while those purchasing caviar, and expensive food goods, will NOT escape tax-free.

The general idea that the FairTax will result in price inflation is WRONG and MISLEADING. Because the federal and state plans are "revenue-neutral," it means WE'RE PAYING THESE TAXES NOW.

There is one IMPORTANT element of the MI FairTax: It CAPS spending at the State level. And an increase in spending requires a vote of the citizens of Michigan.

Please send this message to your representative that taxing Michigan residents using higher vehicle registration fees to pay for repairing our roads is not going to work and that anyone who supports this legislation will see their re-election in Michigans Congress becoming a very poor chance of happening.

If I am not mistaken, the Senate and or the House are or will be taking up the legislation for increasing revenues for road repairs. It has been reported that increasing the costs for registration of a Michigan citizens vehicle(s) will be the means to accomplish this initative. Please understand that using an increases in registration fees to repair roads will get every elected official primaried for replacement if this happens, including Governor Synder.

This is a form of taxation and the citizens of Michigan will not stand for this. Please give us your response on this issue. We will be watching the way everyone votes and it will become public knowledge if you support and voted "YES" on this issue. (TeaParty member)

Very interesting article. As someone suffering with disabilities myself, one of the most daunting things about being diagnosed was trying to figure out how the loss of income would prevent me from keeping the lifestyle I had worked so hard to achieve. Disability Insurance for individuals is important to consider; while people always seem to remember insuring their homes and cars, they forget that if your health were to take a turn for the worse, your income would likely suffer. Though we don't know what life will throw at us next, we can be prepared for the unexpected by protecting our income!

We here in the "FairTax" movement don't want to address the problems of the Fed, we just want to rearange how you will pay us.

We are not going to stop the redistribution, we are just going to do it in a different way.

So, instead of skimming of your wages, now we will charge you a "NATIONAL SALES TAX" A "STATE SALES TAX" we won't charge any corporation but place the burden on the individual. Rose, the subject of my comments is "tax collection" and REPLACING the income tax - NOT adding on another tax.

FairTax gets rid of personal income tax, corporate income and payroll taxes (including social security and medicare taxes), inheritance tax, and federal gift tax.

C'mon, Rose, let's unite "We the People," with a SIMPLIFIED tax system that is truly fair, and will result in those who spend more, paying more (MORE fairly than now).

Rose, ending the Fed does not end the income tax, and the waste (both in human productivity and dollars) and oppression that accompany it.

Short of just terminating the income tax (without replacement) - which is NOT going to happen - our best alternative is the FairTax.

With the FairTax comes transparency and citizen-options that are not present today. It will permit a more clear focus on Congress, and what it is extracting from our hides.

Also, you're comparing "apples with oranges." I'm talking about a plan for an alternative tax collection scheme. You're talking about Congressional spending goals.

You continue to confuse issues, Rose. This is not a service to your allegiant fans.
