Sherry Jackson Update

Last night I spoke with Sherry Jackson's husband Colin Jackson. Here's the good news. Sherry is feeling better, the swelling in her neck is going down. The problem was the medication she was on.

Anyone who has Thyroid problems, or knows someone with Thyroid, also knows that it is a touchy disease and needs constant monitoring with blood test until the medication can be adjusted to the proper dose. If the medication doesn't work, then the Thyroid is removed. But this takes constant monitoring by a DOCTOR.

Prisons do not offer this type of care unless they are watched by people on the outside!!!

Colin Jackson would like to thank everyone who made calls or sent letters to Congressman Hank Johnson. The Congressman's staff have contacted the prison and has requested Sherry's complete medical file.

The Congressman's staff will be working with Colin Jackson to insure that Sherry gets the medical help she needs. When our Congress Critters respond in a positive manor, we need to call them back and say Thank You. I hope that everyone will take the time to let
Cong. Johnson's staff know you are THANKFUL for their help.

Prisontalk Online at www.prisontalk.com is a good place for families of federal inmates to connect on their federal prison forum (look under "Regional forums" and get ideas from each other. For medical issues, another avenue is to contact the Federal Bureau of Prisons Health Director, Dr. Newton Kindig, at the BOP Central Office address. Include specific details of the medical problem that's being ignored. That said, I know of a federal prison diagnosed with Graves Disease in federal prison and he received excellent medical care for it, including medication monitoring and, eventually surgery and then radiation treatments. He was cured. Medical care really depends upon the specific institution and their medical staff. Some places it is horrific.
