Fed job approval rating lower than IRS: Gallup poll

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Americans think the Federal Reserve is doing a worse job than even the much-maligned Internal Revenue Service.

Only 30 percent of Americans think the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors is doing a good job despite the central bank's unprecedented efforts to battle a crippling recession, according to a Gallup Poll released on Monday.

That makes the Fed the worst reviewed of nine key agencies -- including the tax-collecting IRS -- the Gallup poll of more than 1,000 Americans between July 10 and 12 showed. Twenty-two percent of Americans said the central bank was doing a poor job.

"It is unclear how much of the Fed's image decline is due to the general decline in the country's economic climate, as opposed to specific perceptions about the agency's performance in carrying out its monetary responsibilities and possibly its role in the crisis surrounding U.S. financial markets," the pollsters wrote.FULL STORY

Conyers Sees No Point in Members Reading 1,000-Page Health Care Bill--Unless They Have 2 Lawyers to Interpret It for Them

(CNSNews.com) - During his speech at a National Press Club luncheon, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Democratic Congressman John Conyers (D-Mich.), questioned the point of lawmakers reading the health care bill.

“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.

“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”

(My Comment: Maybe it's time to VOTE this incompetent out of office. Maybe it's time for Legislators to write Bill's in plain ENGLISH so they can understand what they are voting for.)

Crooks Catching Crooks

Well, the big story for the last few days is how the FBI and IRS,
those noble crusaders for truth and justice, have busted a bunch of
New Jersey Mayors, and other crooks, in a money-laundering
operation (among other things). So you can all sleep tonight with a
feeling of security, knowing that the federal government is out
there protecting you! Incidentally, here is the rather impressive
list of the people accused and the charges filed against them:

List of Names and Charges in NJ Corruption Probe - 7/23/2009

Political Corruption
- Moshe Altman, 39, of Monsey, NY, charged with conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right & money laundering
- Charlie Ammon, 33, of Lakewood, NJ, charged with conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right
- Leona Beldini, 74, of Jersey City, charged with conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right
- Peter Cammarano III, 32, of Hoboken, NJ, charged with conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right CLICK HERE FOR ENTIRE LONG LIST

However, even though the New Jersey example is a big one, a
headline along the lines of "Politician Caught Breaking the Law!"
is about as surprising as "Sun Rises in the East!" And the stories
always talk about "corruption." But what does that word mean? It
implies something like this: "Instead of using their power and
influence for the benefit of the general public, they used it for
personal gain!"

Well, I guess you can call that "corruption," or you could just
call it "government." (Many of the people in the New Jersey case
were charged with "extortion," which basically means, "Give me
money or I'll do something bad to you." But isn't that pretty much
the motto of the IRS every day?) Is there anyone in the country who
still believes that the politicians seek office to help us? Is
anyone still really that delusional? Everything the politicians do,
Republican or Democrat, is for their own benefit and nothing else.

WHAT IS INCOME?

COURT CASE CITATIONS ON THE NATURE OF "INCOME"
What is Income?

Various Court statements about TAXABLE INCOME:

Stapler v U.S., 21 F Supp 737 AT 739 (1937): "Income within the meaning of the Sixteenth Amendment and the Revenue Act, means 'gain'... and in such connection 'Gain' means profit...proceeding from property, severed from capital, however invested or employed, and coming in, received, or drawn by the taxpayer, for his separate use, benefit and disposal... Income is not a wage or compensation for any type of labor."

Oliver v. Halstead 86 S.E. Rep 2nd 859 (1955): "There is a clear distinction between `profit' and `wages', or a compensation for labor. Compensation for labor (wages) cannot be regarded as profit within the meaning of the law. The word `profit', as ordinarily used, means the gain made upon any business or investment -- a different thing altogether from the mere compensation for labor."

Helvering v Edison Bros. Stores, 133 F2d 575 (1943): "The Treasury cannot by interpretive regulations, make income of that which is not income within the meaning of the revenue acts of Congress, nor can Congress, without apportionment, tax as income that which is not income within the meaning of the 16th Amendment."

Flora v U.S., 362 U.S. 145, (1959) never overruled: "... the government can collect the tax from a district court suitor by exercising it's power of distraint... but we cannot believe that compelling resort to this extraordinary procedure is either wise or in accord with congressional intent. Our system of taxation is based upon VOLUNTARY ASSESSMENT AND PAYMENT , NOT UPON DISTRAINT" [Footnote 43] If the government is forced to use these remedies(distraint) on a large scale, it will affect adversely the taxpayers willingness to perform under our VOLUNTARY assessment system.

Evens v Gore, 253 U.S. 245 (1920): US Supreme court, never overruled "After further consideration, we adhere to that view and accordingly hold that the Sixteenth Amendment does not authorize or support the tax in question. " (A tax on salary) FULL LIST OF CASE HISTORY

A Prophetic 1944 Interview

Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 - December 19, 1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America. He said this in a 1944 interview:

The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.... I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.

This statement reveals several key ideas:

The first is that a third party can win support for its policy positions without winning any elections if one of the two main parties adopts its positions.

The second is that it is a winning political strategy to advantage a small segment of the voters at the expense of a smaller segment. Do that for enough small segments and eventually you will have socialism.

The third is that it is a winning strategy to avoid allowing your ultimate objective, or the constitutional implications, to be framed as the question to be decided by the voters. People wouldn't vote for socialism, or for violating the Constitution, if the question were framed in those terms, but will vote for incremental steps toward it, and fail to understand the opponents when they try to explain to voters what those steps lead to, or that they are unconstitutional.

The problem for libertarians is that liberty doesn't sell as well as government benefits. People don't really appreciate liberty until they have lost it, and too often they will not even realize they have lost it, or they will attribute the loss to something other than their own past election choices. It is easier for most people to imagine a prospective financial gain or loss than a loss of liberty. Money can be counted in a way that liberty can't.

What is the relationship between the Federal Reserve Act and the Federal Income Tax?

"If we American people ever allow monopoly banking to control the issue of currency, first by inflation & then by deflation, these banks & bureaucracies that will grow up around them will deprive we, the people of all our property until our children will wake up homeless on the continent which God gave us for stewardship." - Thomas Jefferson

Ignoring Watchdog Report, Treasury Gives Three Major Banks Sweetheart Deals

Less than two weeks after a congressional watchdog called attention to backroom deals in which the Treasury Department repurchased stock warrants from bailed-out banks at well below market value, three more such transactions have now been reported. The big loser: The U.S. taxpayer.

The Congressional Oversight Panel reported earlier last month that in 11 transactions with small banks, taxpayers walked away with about 66 percent of what they could have gotten.

At a hearing on the warrant repurchase program in the House on Wednesday, Herbert Allison Jr., a senior Treasury official, insisted that the sweet deals the banks got were needed to aid the liquidity of the smaller institutions.

But now, in three out of the four newly-reported transactions, all with much bigger institutions, the deals have only gotten worse. The transactions returned between 54 and 65 percent of what the taxpayers could have gotten on the open market, according to one estimate. FULL STORY

World Prepares to Dump the Dollar

July 21, 2009 | From theTrumpet.com
American economists think the world can’t afford to let go of the dollar’s reserve currency status. The world is about to teach them differently.

What do China, India, Brazil, Russia, France and Germany have in common? These countries most often can’t agree on anything. But they are united in one strange—and ominous—way. They blame the United States for wrecking the global economy. And they think the dollar is the wrecking ball.

One rock-solid, foundational belief underpins almost all economic theory in America: faith in the dollar’s unassailable status as the world’s reserve currency. Foreigners hold so many dollars that they can’t afford to stop buying them, the theory goes. Therefore the dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency is sound. But the dollar is now coming under a concentrated attack. Are American economists about to get schooled? FULL STORY

Health Care Reform Bill

Congressman John Fleming, Representing Louisiana's 4th District, is asking us to contact our Congress Critters and tell them to support his House Resolution 615, promising that if they vote for Government Controlled Health Care, they themselves will give up their cushy Federal Employees Insurance and go with the Government Plan. Here is what Rep. Fleming has on his web site.

Over the past few weeks, members of Congress and the American people have come to know the details of the Administration's proposed health care plan. Call it whatever you like, I believe this proposal is nothing more than government-run health care. As a physician, I am amazed at the number of bureaucrats in this House who are quick to claim a government-run health care plan is the reform this country needs. In response to this, I have offered a resolution that will offer members of Congress an opportunity to put their money where their mouth is, and urge their colleagues who vote for legislation creating a government-run health care plan to lead by example and enroll themselves in the same public plan.

Under the current draft of the Democrat healthcare legislation, members of Congress are curiously exempt from the government-run health care option, keeping their existing health plans and services on Capitol Hill. If Members of Congress believe so strongly that government-run health care is the best solution for hard working American families, I think it only fitting that Americans see them lead the way. Public servants should always be accountable and responsible for what they are advocating.

Together we will work to ensure that any plan that is good enough is for American families is good enough for every member of Congress.

Best Tee Shirt Ever

Government by Goldman Sachs

You Can't Print Production and Prosperity

Mises Daily by Doug French | Posted on 7/23/2009 12:00:00 AM

It's hard to imagine that the monetary policy talk can get any nuttier, but we've likely only just begun. After all, despite the Federal Reserve growing its balance sheet by 140 percent and dropping rates essentially to zero, the bankruptcies just keep on coming. Ex-Fed governor Wayne Angell told Larry Kudlow's CNBC audience, "monetary policy always works!" Although Angell does stipulate that it takes time before the tromping on the monetary gas pedal will spin the economic tires and spray the prosperity gravel.

But good grief, the Fed started cutting rates in September 2007, dropping the federal-funds rate from 5.25 percent to 4.75 percent, and it was cut, cut, cut until daddy set the target rate at 0 to .25 percent in December of last year. In the meantime, one trillion dollars has been added to the M-2 money supply.

Despite all this money creation, Circuit City, Sharper Image, Goody's, Gottschalk's, Comp USA, Levitz Furniture, Chrysler, General Motors, General Properties, and — most recently — Eddie Bauer have filed for bankruptcy protection. And personal bankruptcy filings are up in every state and soaring in Nevada, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Indiana, and Michigan.

The talking heads and policy wonks are trying to tell us that we're not borrowing enough, and that's why we're in a depression and why the Japanese economy has been depressed for more than a decade.

However, the real reason we're in a depression is because businesses and individuals borrowed too much and invested it poorly. Economist Murray Rothbard explained that a depression is the recovery stage: "The liquidation of unsound businesses, the 'idle capacity' of the malinvested plant, and the 'frictional' unemployment of original factors that must suddenly and en masse shift to lower stages of production — these are the chief hallmarks of the depression stage."

That's why monetary policy isn't working and won't work. People must save and pay off their debts. The malinvestments of the boom must be liquidated. New liquidity and zero-percent interest rates will only create new malinvestments, not a sound economy. FULL STORY

SOTOMAYOR'S CONFIRMATION VOTE RESCHEDULED - HERE'S WHY

On July 15, 2009, Dr. Richard Cordero, was a guest on my radio show. Dr. Cordero has been trying to get the seventeen members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to question U.S. Supreme Court Justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor on these issues:

1. The Committee's questionnaire

2. Judge Sotomayor’s answers to it and her conduct

3. The docket of the DeLano case, 06-4780-bk, CA2

Here's the bottom line:

Enough Americans have been calling these senators with a demand the vote be stopped and Dr. Cordero's evidence (not speculation) be examined.

Sessions can simply pick up the phone, call Dr. Cordero and get him to Washington, DC with his boxes of evidence. These senators have their own lawyers to assist with complicated legal matters. Get them all into a hearing room with Dr. Cordero and go through the evidence.

Dr. Cordero will be a guest on Jeff Rense Radio, Monday, July 27, 2009. If those of us in the "alternative" media can find Dr. Cordero, certainly the aides in these senator's offices can do the same. Dr. Cordero is waiting and willing to speak to these senators in person.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Sotomayor has been a willing participant in a judicially run and tolerated bankruptcy fraud scheme. There is no hesitation on my part when I say that if given all the evidence, a grand jury would indict not only Sotomayor, but several other federal judges involved in this fraud. This is a major scandal that has gone unchecked, but must be stopped. Integrity and honesty in our judiciary must be of the highest priority. FULL STORY

Bernanke: “I Don’t Know” Which Foreign Banks Were Given Half a Trillion

Grayson grills Fed chairman on destination of credit swaps

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke was confronted yesterday by Congressman Alan Grayson about which foreign banks were the recipients of Federal Reserve credit swaps, but he was unable to provide an answer as to where over half a trillion dollars had gone.

Asked which European financial institutions received the money, which was handed out by The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), a component of the Federal Reserve System, Bernanke responded, “I don’t know.”

“Half a trillion dollars and you don’t know who got the money?” asked Grayson.

As we have previously reported, the destination of trillions in bailout funds remains hidden after the Fed refused to disclose where it had gone despite a lawsuit filed by Bloomberg.

Bernanke said the Fed had a “long standing legal authority” to hand money to foreign banks under section 14 of the Federal Reserve Act, a claim contradicted by Bernanke’s own report, as Grayson soon highlighted.

Grayson said that he had investigated one of the arrangements, a $9 billion dollar package to New Zealand, which works out at $3000 dollars for every citizen of New Zealand.

“Seriously, wouldn’t it have been better to extend that kind of credit to Americans rather than New Zealanders,” said Grayson.
The Congressman then implied that handing money to foreign institutions was unconstitutional, reading from Article I, “No money shall be drawn from the treasury, but in consequence of appropriations made by law.”

“Do you think it’s in the spirit of the Constitution for a group like the FOMC to hand out a half a trillion dollars to foreigners without any action by this Congress?” asked Grayson, to which Bernanke responded that Congress had approved it with the Federal Reserve act of 1913. Grayson responded that in 1913, the entire GDP of the U.S. was well under half a trillion dollars.

“Is it safe to say that nobody in 1913 contemplated that a small little group of people would decide to hand out half a trillion dollars to foreigners?,” asked Grayson, to which Bernanke again claimed that the authority had been used numerous times before.

Grayson debunked this claim by pointing to Bernanke’s own report, which stated that the entire amount had been handed out starting from the last quarter of 2007, and the amount given out before that to foreign banks was zero.

Back on Uncle Sam's plantation

Six years ago I wrote a book called Uncle Sam's Plantation. I wrote the book to tell my own story of what I saw living inside the welfare state and my own transformation out of it.

I said in that book that indeed there are two Americas -- a poor America on socialism and a wealthy America on capitalism.

I talked about government programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS), Emergency Assistance to Needy Families with Children (EANF), Section 8 Housing, and Food Stamps.

Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like poor America on socialism.

Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have said, "Thank you, Suh."

Now, instead of thinking about what creative things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they have to tell Massah in order to get their cash.

There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

Worse, socialism seems to be the element of our new young president. And maybe even more troubling, our corporate executives seem happy to move onto the plantation.

In an op-ed on the opinion page of the Washington Post, Mr. Obama is clear that the goal of his trillion dollar spending plan is much more than short term economic stimulus. FULL STORY

Chips in official IDs raise privacy fears

In this April 10, 2009. photo, Chris Paget, a self-described "ethical hacker," sits in the back of his car with electronic equipment seeking information from imbedded radio frequency identification, or RFID chips as people pass him along the Embarcadero in San Francisco. -- Climbing into his Volvo, outfitted with a Matrics antenna and a Motorola reader he'd bought on eBay for $190, Chris Paget cruised the streets of San Francisco with this objective: To read the identity cards of strangers, wirelessly, without ever leaving his car.

It took him 20 minutes to strike hacker's gold.

Zipping past Fisherman's Wharf, his scanner downloaded to his laptop the unique serial numbers of two pedestrians' electronic U.S. passport cards embedded with radio frequency identification, or RFID, tags. Within an hour, he'd "skimmed" four more of the new, microchipped PASS cards from a distance of 20 feet.

Increasingly, government officials are promoting the chipping of identity documents as a 21st century application of technology that will help speed border crossings, safeguard credentials against counterfeiters, and keep terrorists from sneaking into the country.

But Paget's February experiment demonstrated something privacy advocates had feared for years: That RFID, coupled with other technologies, could make people trackable without their knowledge.

He filmed his heist, and soon his video went viral on the Web, intensifying a debate over a push by government, federal and state, to put tracking technologies in identity documents and over their potential to erode privacy. FULL STORY

Bombshell: Orders revoked for soldier challenging prez

A U.S. Army Reserve major from Florida scheduled to report for deployment to Afghanistan within days has had his military orders revoked after arguing he should not be required to serve under a president who has not proven his eligibility for office.

His attorney, Orly Taitz, confirmed to WND the military has rescinded his impending deployment orders.

"As an officer in the armed forces of the United States, it is [my] duty to gain clarification on any order we may believe illegal. With that said, if President Obama is found not to be a 'natural-born citizen,' he is not eligible to be commander-in-chief," he told WND only hours after the case was filed.

"[Then] any order coming out of the presidency or his chain of command is illegal. Should I deploy, I would essentially be following an illegal [order]. If I happened to be captured by the enemy in a foreign land, I would not be privy to the Geneva Convention protections," he said.

Cook said without a legitimate president as commander-in-chief, members of the U.S. military in overseas actions could be determined to be "war criminals and subject to prosecution."

He said the vast array of information about Obama that is not available to the public confirms to him "something is amiss."

"That and the fact the individual who is occupying the White House has not been entirely truthful with anybody," he said. "Every time anyone has made an inquiry, it has been either cast aside, it has been maligned, it has been laughed at or just dismissed summarily without further investigation.

"You know what. It would be so simple to solve. Just produce the long-form document, certificate of live birth," he said.FULL STORY

Norma McCorvey, "Jane Roe," Arrested At Sotomayor Hearing

The Huffington Post

WASHINGTON — The plaintiff in the landmark abortion-rights case Roe v. Wade, who became an abortion protester in recent years, was among four demonstrators arrested Monday for disrupting Sonia Sotomayor's Supreme Court nomination hearing.

Norma McCorvey, 61, of Texas, better known as "Jane Roe," began screaming that Sotomayor was "wrong" about abortion during the opening statement of the newest member of the Senate, Al Franken, D-Minn.

McCorvey's suit led to the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. But in recent years, she switched sides to speak out against abortion.

Capitol Police identified the other three arrested as: Robert James, from Virginia; Andrew Beacham of Indiana; and Francis Mahoney of Florida. Police did not provide their hometowns.

The first outburst came during Sen. Dianne Feinstein's opening statement. A man in the back of the room interrupted the California Democrat's remarks by shouting: "Senator! What about the unborn!" He called abortion "genocide."

Sotomayor briefly turned her head toward family and friends seated in the front row as the first protester was taken away and his shouts faded.

The initial episode prompted a warning by the Judiciary Committee chairman, Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., that no displays for or against the nominee from observers would be tolerated.

McCorvey was among a group that had been in seats reserved for the public. She began shouting as the group was escorted out so a new group could enter. Another man protested in Spanish.

Debt and Financial Scam's- Six Syllables to a Savage Truth

THE MARKET ORACLE
Jul 11, 2009 - 05:29 PM
By: Stewart_Dougherty

On December 9, 2008, $65 billion of investor money was at peace. On the fear / greed seesaw that is said to characterize investor emotion, fear was down on the ground, while greed was high in the sky, having all the fun. Greed was earning a steady 1% per month, making fear look like an over-cautious fool.

On December 10, 2008, six simple syllables transformed that greed into lead, sending it crashing to earth while launching fear to the moon.

The syllables were these: "It's all just one big lie," and they were spoken by Bernard Madoff, in an admission that his investment fund was nothing but an illusion and a fraud. They represented a savage truth that would wipe out the savings of thousands, and toll the bell for the rest of the world's investing public.

The fact is that the United States is suffocating in what has become an airless House of Lies. Social Security is a promise that cannot be kept with anything even remotely resembling America's current "money," and is therefore a lie. Medicare and Medicaid are promises that cannot be kept, and are also lies. SSI benefits cannot be paid into the future, and are lies. The federal debt cannot be paid, and is a lie. Government pensions cannot be paid, and are lies. The prescription drug program is unaffordable, and is a lie. Food stamps and other forms of welfare are unaffordable, and are lies. And the list goes on and on. FULL STORY

The GOP is grass, guess who's the mower

In another article from The Sentinel, it appears that in-house squabbling is getting in the way of any recruiting efforts or party re-definition. In an apparent disciplinary attempt, it seems that the Republican Party of Florida is attempting to remove voices that either fail or refuse to tow the "party line". Most of these voices appear to be supportive of the views of Dr. Ron Paul. In fact, some Ron Paul supporters feel that the party is attempting to "purge" itself of the Libertarian influence.

This is not a good move for a party that is struggling to find its direction. For a political party that has disconnected with its main constituency, hard working, family oriented, "bread-basket" Americans, it certainly does not want to alienate a potential candidate whose supporter base is measured in Facebook and MySpace subscribers. However, there does seem to be resistance among "old school" Republicans like South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham regarding the popularity of Ron Paul and his supporters. FULL STORY

How the media ignored Ron Paul and why it will be their undoing

I came across this article written by Doug Wead on MinistryValues.com

Once again, Ron Paul deserved to be in the headlines and once again the national media totally ignored him. Recently Ron Paul took on the Federal Reserve seeking to audit the secretive financial institution and a few months ago the nationwide ‘Tea Party’ protests of big taxes and big spending was the number two story in the nation on most television networks and number one on some. And how could they avoid it? Thousands showed up from coast to coast to express their dismay. What is Obama doing? How can we keep printing paper money? Doesn’t he know that a wave of inflation will hit the shore?

The fact is that many in big business switched to the Democrats in 1964 when they learned how Lyndon Johnson’s new regulations could wipe out their small business competitors and gain them monopolies. And it gained momentum, even in Republican administrations where powerful corporate lobbies ponied up for their share of government largesse. McDonalds, for example, wanted and received government subsidies to compete with French hamburger joints. Chuckle, chuckle. Now you try that. Go ahead. Open a hamburger stand and ask the government for money. Good luck.

ABC blamed the tax revolt on Fox television and talk radio and said that Democrats blamed corporate interests, none of the corporate interests were named but ABC reported it anyway, gotta be fair and give the other side. But I was watching ABC, not Fox and I never listen to the radio and I, too, think that we are spending big. Gee, how did I get that idea? Come to think of it, it must have been ABC. Maybe they are part of the very fringe they fear and don’t yet know it.

Ron Paul’s name was not mentioned. Well, I am told that it was mentioned once on Fox by the good Judge Andrew Napolitano.

That’s okay. Keep it up. Makes us mad. Real mad. And we will take over the GOP and we will give the American people a choice, and when the economy is good and shaken, and the middle class has lost 70% of its wealth, and is no longer middle class, then there just might be enough new poor people out there to elect Ron Paul.

Go on, no really, keep it up. Keep it up. Give us another news story that ignores the only person in America who saw this coming and the only one who is talking sense and the only one who has the answers. Go on. FULL STORY

Community Organizers

The other day, this young lady came to my door and introduced herself as a community organizer. My first question to her was, "Have you read the Constitution of the United States and Bill of Rights?"

She said NO. She had never read the Constitution.

I then asked if she had read the Constitution and Bill of Rights of Michigan.

Again she said NO.

I asked her what type of community organization she was promoting if she didn't know what the communities RIGHTS were?

She didn't know.

I felt compelled to educate her.

I gave her a copy of the "Citizens Rule Book" complete with the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights as well as information on Jury Duty.

I gave her FIJA fliers (that's Fully Informed Jury Association).

I gave her a Fiat Empire DVD and a Freedom to Fascism DVD.

That's when she told me that she had to go pick up her daughter and had to leave.

I'm sure she had some questions she wanted to ask me but didn't have time. Maybe she will come back.

The Role of Government Affordable Housing Policy in Creating the Global Financial Crisis of 2008

STAFF REPORT
U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

111TH CONGRESS
COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT AND GOVERNMENT REFORM
JULY 7, 2009

INTRODUCTION

The housing bubble that burst in 2007 and led to a financial crisis can be traced back to federal government intervention in the U.S. housing market intended to help provide homeownership opportunities for more Americans. This intervention began with two government-backed corporations, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which privatized their profits but socialized their risks, creating powerful incentives for them to act recklessly and exposing taxpayers to tremendous losses. Government intervention also created “affordable” but dangerous lending policies which encouraged lower down payments, looser underwriting standards and higher leverage. Finally, government intervention created a nexus of vested interests – politicians, lenders and lobbyists – who profited from the “affordable” housing market and acted to kill reforms. In the short run, this government intervention was successful in its stated goal – raising the national homeownership rate. However, the ultimate effect was to create a mortgage tsunami that wrought devastation on the American people and economy. While government intervention was not the sole cause of the financial crisis, its role was significant and has received too little attention. FULL REPORT

Ron Paul questions Fed Vice Chair on Transparency

Ron Paul questioned Vice Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors today in a hearing on Fed independence on Capitol Hill today.

It’s now their “official” opinion that auditing the Federal Reserve completely will inhibit their ability to do their job, which apparently is to print money endlessly forcing a hidden tax on every person who trades in U.S. dollars.

"Bernanke Threatens The Congress" We will cause an Economic Collapse if you audit the Fed!

Rep. Duncan questioned Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke on Thursday about what his opinion of a majority in Congress who have co-sponsored Ron Pauls bill to audit the Federal Reserve.

Bernanke clearly regarded the bills intent as hostile to the institution he represents:

"My concern about the legislation is that if the GAO is auditing not only the operational aspects of the programs and the details of the programs but making judgments about our policy decisions would effectively be a takeover of policy by the Congress and a repudiation of the Federal Reserve would be highly destructive to the stability of the financial system, the Dollar and our national economic situation."

The brunt of Bernankes statement is as crystal clear as a threat from a common street thug back off from the Fed, or the economy gets it.

The chairman clearly implies that any attempt to restore monetary powers constitutionally granted to the Congress would be seen as a "takeover" and that the defensive and "repudiated" Fed would respond destructively.
Of course Congress constitutional power over money is in the U.S. Constitution:

The Congress shall have power To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures;

Bernankes open use of financial terrorism in the face of Congress blatant Constitutional authority is absurd and despicable.

Clean Energy and Security Act brings auditors into your home

H.R. 2454 is a 1400-page promise to audit every aspect of your home and life under the guise of creating jobs, clean energy and a sustainable world. However, before we get into the bill lets examine the way it’s been handled.

The secrecy of the bill and the speed of which the legislation is being railroaded is quite alarming. The last two times I’ve seen this was with the Patriot Act and TARP legislation.

Congressman Ron Paul told the Washington Times that no one was allowed to read the Patriot Act, and for that, we received one of the most anti-American legislations we’ve ever seen. Complete with secret arrests, indefinite detentions and forced DNA collection from “suspected terrorists.”

TARP had similar shenanigans, it was rushed through the house, no one could read it and threats of Marshal Law were made. Rep. Brad Sherman tells us in the clip what happened behind closed doors.

Senator James Inhofe later revealed on a Tulsa Talk Show the US Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson was behind the Martial Law threat. The bill passed and TARP and other bailout schemes are currently at $13.9 trillion. It promised jobs, growth and economic recovery. Unemployment rates continue to sky rocket and most economists will tell you we are already in a depression. FULL STORY

Day of Reckoning

by Martin D. Weiss, Ph.D. 07-05-09

This is a day of reckoning for California and, ultimately, for all of America.

Will our nation’s largest debtors meet their massive financial obligations? Or will many ultimately default?

In California, the answer given by the state Treasurer’s office was a commitment never to default, seeking to directly refute my forecast issued here 13 days ago under the headline “California Collapsing.”

According to the BusinessJournal:

“The California’s state Treasurer’s office on Monday refuted an analyst’s recommendation last week that investors dump California municipal bonds and that the state is likely to default.

“Analyst Martin Weiss of Weiss Research said in a June 22 report that California’s financial woes create ‘a very high probability’ that California will eventually miss debt service payments.

“Mr. Weiss’ analysis and recommendation, to put it kindly, is misinformed,” responded Tom Dresslar, a spokesman for state Treasurer Bill Lockyer. “Even the credit rating agencies said, in announcing possible downgrades, that the likelihood of default is low.”

Ironically, just two days later …

California Defaulted on Its
Short-Term Debt Obligations

To the contrary, California’s budget crisis is rooted in an unprecedented economic depression with 11.5 percent unemployment and the greatest concentration of mortgage delinquencies in the nation. Even if the i.o.u.’s are ultimately paid in full, California’s debt troubles are not going away.

Ron Paul: Recommendations for U.S.

Economy In Crises
Published 07/04/09 Dustin Ensinger

Congressman Ron Paul, writing in the Washington Times, offers a five-point plan to reform America’s foreign policy in a way that would make our Founding Fathers proud.

First, Paul says that America should no longer cede its sovereignty to international institutions. This includes the North American Free Trade Agreement, the World Trade Organization, the United Nations and the North American Treaty Organization.

Second, America can no longer afford to police the world and stretch our military thin by having them deployed across the globe on humanitarian missions. Instead, America should strictly focus on having a military strong enough to defend itself against any foreign threat.

Third, according to Paul, Congress must reassert its Constitutionally mandated and exclusive power to declare war. In those cases in which Congress does not decide to deploy troops and the decision is left to the executive branch, America tends to end up in long and very costly wars.

Fourth, Paul states that America should lead by example instead of engaging in nation-building. Instead America should demonstrate to the rest of the world what a free and democratic society looks like.

Finally, Paul says that America must stop its practice of intervening in the matters of other sovereign nations. If America’s sovereignty is to be respected, it must do so in other countries as well.

Deficits don't reflect holdover indebtedness from previous years. Some spending items -- such as emergency appropriations bills and receipts in the Social Security program -- aren't included, either, although they are part of the national debt.

The national debt is a broader, and more telling, way to look at the government's balance sheets than glancing at deficits.

The average person lacks the patience to read Human Action and Man, Economy, and State. How then can he acquire the rudiments of Austrian cycle theory and grasp why the theory is true? To set the question aside, on the grounds that it is unnecessary for the man in the street to bother with such matters, is a counsel of despair. If the public does not understand the economics of depression, there is little hope that we can avoid disastrous government policies. Unless the free market receives sufficient popular support, our economic future is bleak. FULL STORY
