Wall Street slides on economic worries

(Reuters) - Stocks added to losses on Thursday after data showed factory activity in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region accelerated less than expected in May, while an April index of U.S. leading economic indicators marked its first decline in more than a year.


The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI fell 207.38 points, or 1.99 percent, to 10,236.99. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX lost 24.85 points, or 2.23 percent, to 1,090.20. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC shed 53.91 points, or 2.35 percent, to 2,244.46.
