Volunteers raise funds for extras at Grand Rapids veterans home

GRAND RAPIDS -- For John Palmer, little things such as popcorn, a trip to the ballpark or a summer carnival make all the difference.

"It's like a breath of fresh air," said Palmer, 64, an Air Force veteran and six-year resident of Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

"It makes it that much more of a home and not just a nursing facility or a place to die," he said. Full Story.
