Members of Centre County's 9-12 Project of Central PA gathered Tuesday night to address the importance of the Continental Congress '09, a national convention calling for government to return to its traditional Constitutional values.
Speaker Floyd Houdeshell, Union County, is one of 11 candidates vying to represent Pennsylvania at the convention, which will be held Nov. 9 to 22, in Illinois. Pennsylvania currently has the largest number of delegate nominees, and Houdeshell said he hopes Central Pennsylvania will continue to be well represented.
Continental Congress sessions have not occurred since the writing of the Declaration of Independence, Houdeshell said. The 2009 convention, coordinated by the We the People organization, will be the first held in recent history. Legislators and the public are invited to attend the convention to meet with state delegates and present their concerns. FULL STORY
