We are not in control

Published: September 20, 2009

In Vermont you are allowed to own property but not control its use. The Legislature and Congress have regulated land, buildings, businesses, jobs and are now attempting to control the economy.

Vermont and members of the U.S. House of Representatives talk of "free markets" rather than free enterprise and are driving business and jobs overseas. The Legislature and Congress through regulation are destroying the private property principle and free enterprise system, the foundation on which this country was built.

It was only a few years ago that all of the presidents walked hand in hand in support of free trade (free markets). Massive over-regulating and government mandating cost to payroll have driven businesses and jobs overseas. We are not a true democracy. We are a constitutional republic with a Bill of Rights and elected representatives. If we were a democracy we would have a binding referendum and we the people would be able to reject all of these bad laws.

Acts 250, 200, 78, 60 and 64, Title 10 and the gay marriage bill would all have been overturned if there were a binding referendum by the people. Don't you think it is strange that Democrats and Republicans are directed to vote a party line? Who has their hands on the levers of power and is able to intimidate, brainwash and indoctrinate these bubble heads into voting a party line always in opposition to the other major party?
