STATE OF THE STATE VS. STATE OF THE CITIZEN SHOWDOWN

What: Citizen Groups Counter State of the State with State of the Citizen Rally. Thousands of protesters expected to attend.

When: Feb 3, 2009 The event kicks off at 6:30 pm with pregame activities and the big show starts at 7:00 pm.

Where: State Capitol, Downtown Lansing

Who: Common Sense in Government, Michigan Tax Payers Alliance, No Broken Promise

Why: The political establishment may feel like they have home field advantage during the State of the State; but folks from across the State are jumping into the political game. It is going to be a packed house, both inside and outside the Capito

Politicians are betting against the Tea Party being able to change the political climate in Michigan. Average citizens, on the other hand, are doubling down on the Tea Party to win the day and Make Lansing Listen.

The question remains, will the legislators choose to attend the State of the State or the State of the Citizen? The program will be held concurrently with the Governor’s State of the State address; causing legislators to attend one or the other.

Citizens will speak on the State of the Family, State of the Student, State of the Taxpayer, State of the Businessman, State of the Political Elite and the State of the Tea Party.

Notes: The Capitol will be closed for all but ticketed persons starting at 3:00 PM.
